For the first time in the history of Musina Municipality, two workers, Rosina Musadiwa Chale and Hazel Mapula Murathi were recognized by local community representatives for their exemplary hard work and service excellence in a monumental event held at Musina Mayor’s Office. Chale and Murathi were presented with special appreciation certificates, fresh flowers and mouth-watering chocolates. Community representative, Vanessa Cordier who is not aligned to any structure or institution, said it is important to recognize dedication and hard work by civil servants and committed to work with the Municipality to build a better Musina for everyone. She said the two employees are a practical example of how government workers can go an extra mile to deliver efficient services to the communities they serve. She continued: “As Musina citizens, we were impressed with the level of commitment demonstrated by the two municipal workers. Rosina and her team are always hands on to make our environment clean. Whenever we see rubbish in our town, we would call her and she will immediately make sure that the place is clean. Through her intervention, the rate of illegal dumping has gone down because she is very passionate about enforcing law to those who commit littering and illegal dumping. On the other hand, if you have issues with power failure and electricity, Hazel will make sure that she assists you as a matter of urgency. She would even assist you late at night, after work, just to make sure that you have electricity in your house. We are very proud of this pair and hope that their actions will encourage other civil servants to do more for their communities.” Musina Mayor, Cllr Nkhanedzeni Godfrey Mawela thanked Cordier and her team for planting a seed of hope to municipal workers and urged members of the public to continually support the Municipality in all service delivery initiatives. “Most of the time, people come to the municipality to complain. We are happy to have responsible citizens who motivate us by giving credit where it is due. It is my humble plea to the public to join hands with us to make our municipality the best place to stay and invest.” Meanwhile, Chale and Murathi, who were on cloud nine, thanked Cordier and her team and emphasized that they will continue servicing the people of Musina diligently.
